Blogs are a great way to drive traffic to your site, get recognition, connect with your subscribers and most importantly - to make money online.
There are tons of different methods to monetize your blog, but I want to talk about just one - affiliate marketing.
Here's how you do it:
1) Choose your market, something you enjoy writing about
2) Research for related products you can promote as an affiliate
3) Sign-up for affiliate programs and get your links
4) Get a domain name and affordable web hosting
5) Set-up a WordPress blog and make it look good
4) Start writing blog content related to your products
5) Within each article, recommend those products to your readers
Once you've done that, you can also take it to the next level.
Use a link tracking tool so you know how many people clicked on your affiliate links and how many ended up buying them. This is important so you know which products "convert" well and which ones don't.
To go even further, get an "email autoresponder" service and start collecting leads on your blog. Offer something for free (an ebook or your services maybe?) and get people to fill in their name and email address in order to get it.
Soon your list will start growing and as you get more subscribers, you can always email them to recommend some other product. This will maximize your earning potential to get as much as possible from affiliate marketing.
If you're familiar with PPC advertising / Google AdWords, you may want to buy some traffic and get them to subscribe to your list first before recommending your affiliate links. You can set-up AdWords campaigns and start getting highly-targeted traffic in as little as 15 minutes.
Ok ok, I know it all sounds overwhelming. But it works.
